Having sold a fair few items on ebay over the years here are the six tricks I have learnt and used that are an absolute must do (I am sure there are more).
1- Rename the image that you upload on your listing to contain three keywords related to the item that you are selling, with a hypen in between. For example, if you are selling a carpet cleaner, you may name the image something like:
“vax-carpet-cleaner” as in the image below.
To change the file name just right-click on the image and select rename.
Renaming the file like this will help your listing rank higher in Ebay’s search results.
2- Add keywords within your title related to the item that you are selling. As you can see in the picture below, I have added keyword such as House, Home, Indoors, Powerful, Brand New and the Brand name Vax. These keywords are all related to carpet cleaners and carpet cleaning. This again will increase your ranking in ebay and will help your item to appear faster when people are searching for what you are selling. (Don’t worry about the title looking messy).
Note: Only add in the brand name to the title if the brand is very well known.
3- Add in a good description and key features. If the item you are selling is also on Amazon, you can copy and paste the item description and key features from there, rewording it slightly if you want to. See the example below:
You can also add color to your text in relation to the color of the product and/or brand that you are selling. Varying your fonts and making some of them bold can also help with rankings and search results.
4- Add free postage and packing if you can, or if it is worth it.
5- Promote your listing over social media such as Twitter, Facebook, etc. You can also ping the URL of your listing on a website such as pingler.com. This can help with more views and increase the likelihood of selling your item.
6- Keep your item listed for as long as possible unless you have to or want to sell it quickly.
Hope this helps!
